Visual identity & web design
Bergen Klatreklubb, or Bergen Climbing Club, is Norway's largest of its kind. In addition to organizing courses and competitions, they run three climbing facilities: Bergenshallen, Bryggeriet and Vestveggen. The club was in need of a new visual identity and website, that could help them reach out to new potential climbers, as well as communicate to and engage existing members.
We conducted a comprehensive survey and workshop with members of BK to uncover needs and wishes for the new profile and website. The club wanted to communicate that climbing is a diverse and inclusive sport, thus lower the threshold for newcomers. This process gave us valuable insight into the clubs culture. As a result of this insight we ended up using movement, participation and play as keywords in our visual explorations.
Bergen Klatreklubb’s visual identity communicates the joy of movement. Abstract lines are combined with vibrant colors, typography and photography into a positive and playful whole. The goal is to show that BK is an open and inclusive club, with a focus on the development of the climbing sport for all levels, from beginner to professional.
The new identity has been applied to social media, prints, merch and wayfinding in climbing facilities. The club's volunteers now have a flexible design system that adapts to different messages and formats.
The website was designed and developed from scratch to give a better overview of courses, opening hours and service messages.
